The Most Trusted Man in the Neighborhood

May 29, 2012

Our ultimate testimony of faith in Jesus Christ is when an onlooking, non-believing world notices something different about how we conduct ourselves in daily affairs.

Some good news. In an Arab country a Muslim landlord recently spoke to my colleague. My colleague wrote. “The landlord is an older, wealthy man. Very influential, but also very gentle and kind. He is one of the most generous people I have ever met. We sat and visited for some time. During our conversation he told me he wanted us to continue renting from him for a long time. Then he gave the reason. He said, “I do not have many skills. But one thing I know is people. If I spend time with someone for just one week, I know them. I can tell you if their heart is good or bad. I have spent a lot of time with you and I know you are a good man. You are not normal. Your heart is clean. You don’t lie, you are a good man. I consider you my brother. Whatever you need, let me know. I am available to help you with anything.”

“Do not let kindness and truth leave you. Bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor with God and man.”  Proverbs 3:5-6

“And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love, yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.”
